Job Description SummaryThe Project Manager, Research assists in the
planning and management of research projects including the
supervision of support and technical staff. In addition,
coordinates the timing of activities necessary to bring overall
projects to completion. Assists with the development of program
evaluation objectives, determines the appropriate program
evaluation procedures to be utilized, selects the statistical
analyses to be employed, oversees individual project progress,
produces reports detailing results, and supervises data collectors.
Is responsible for the development, management and integrity of all
project data.The Project Manager, Research will consistently

Job DescriptionThe Project Manager, Research will:
- Assists in the planning and management of research projects
while adhering to budget, scope, and schedule requirements.
- Manages and coordinates project budgets for the purpose of
executing research activities and subcontracts.
- Oversees the full life of research projects from proposal
development through project execution, spanning funding to final
reports and dissemination.
- Ensures coordination of the activities of internal and external
collaborators including IRB approval and compliance requirements,
project monitoring, data management, statistics, writing, and
safety. -
- Develops and applies best practices in the initiation,
planning, execution, control and closing of projects. -
- Assists in completion and interpretation of uni- and
multivariate statistical analysis of resulting data for
dissemination purposes.
- Leads departmental regulatory work, compliance, and
interactions with the IRB, Office of Research, Office of
Compliance, and other regulatory bodies that includes original
protocol and supporting document creation, single IRB arrangements,
substantive modifications, continuing reviews, prompt reporting,
and audits.
- May coordinate efforts for the project both within the
AbilityLab and through a variety of vendors and
subcontractors.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the
efficient operation of the function.
- Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best
interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.Reporting Relationships
- Reports directly to the relevant Principal
InvestigatorKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a behavioral
or social science equivalent to that which is acquired through the
completion of a Bachelor's degree. - Master's degree
preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in research including mail and
telephone survey research methodology and management. - Includes
sampling techniques, survey design and development, and follow-up
procedures.
- Extensive experience working with regulatory bodies including
the IRB, Office of Research, and Office of Compliance involving the
creation of new studies in the IRB system, creating study
documents, submitting modifications, reporting new information, and
taking part in audits. -Experience creating protocols from research
proposals preferred. -
- Knowledge of focus group methodology and experience conducting
focus groups and analyzing results.
- A good working knowledge of program evaluation methodology and
statistical analysis and procedures is required. Desirable
statistical skills include knowledge of multivariate analysis
techniques such as multiple analysis of variance, multiple
regression, logistic regression and factor analysis.
- Minimum two years of experience interviewing (in-person and
telephone) within a social/behavioral research setting or clinical
setting.
- Ability to use Windows-based office and data analysis software
and the ability to solve PC hardware and software problems.
- Experience in database design and programming.
- A relatively high level of analytical ability is needed in
order to solve complex technical problems.Working Conditions
- Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or
